My first time at Il Farro and it definitely won’t be the last. The food is soooo good and the pricing is very reasonable. It was kind of empty when I went, but it was a late Sunday afternoon. I think the restaurant might be fairly new considering how few reviews they have on Yelp.
Complimentary focaccia bread and a sundried tomato dip to begin with. I loooveee sundried tomatoes. I ordered the Italian sausage panini which came with fries and a salad. Fries were piping hot and crispy. The salad was tossed in a vinaigrette. The sausage panini (it wasn’t pressed and grilled) was made with, what I think is, the same focaccia bread served at the beginning. Super yummy. The panini portion was very generous. Their pasta portions are on the smaller side, but not particularly skimpy. If you order appetizers and dessert, then the pasta servings are more than enough. We also ordered the stuff eggplant rolls for appetizer. I personally wasn’t a huge fan of it, but it was pretty good and well-prepared. Service is good. Not an overly friendly staff, which imo, is a positive thing. I appreciate that they were on top of things, without being overbearing. But $3 for a soda is a bit high (though not uncommon)…at least there’s free refills.
There’s outdoor seating along the side. I would totally bring Twinkie if I go here again when there’s good weather. |

Every time I do a Yelp search for restaurants in San Mateo, I always notice the frontpage photo for B Street & Vine. Bruschetta just looks way pretty and fannncccyyy. And now I can say I’ve finally tried this place!
The bruschetta was all pretty yummy…but not very satisfying. I don’t know why but I just kept thinking, I could really go for some ramen right now… My favorite bruschettas were the proscuitto (I lovveeeeee proscuitto) and the mushroom ones.
The restaurant itself is cute. And the restroom (I didn’t take a photo) is super interesting — it has bright neon pink lights. |

This is how Twinkie greets me (and everyone else) when I get home. |
